So far in 2021 we haven’t been able to be in the gym but we have created so many memories virtually over zoom. We have zoom sessions every week for our squad and recreational gymnasts and they both focus on strength, flexibility, core proficiency skills and of course having fun! We have certainly learnt that you CAN have a great time on zoom through a variety of different games and creative sessions our coaches plan for our gymnasts.

Our recreational sessions have been a highlight of the week for many who join us week in, week out. We have practised our core proficiency skills and are so ready to get working our badges when we are back in gym. In February half term we had a fun and games session which all the gymnasts loved and looked forward too. We award session superstars certificates each week, and we struggle to choose these as all of our gymnasts work so hard on zoom and show so much commitment to learning and their gymnastics.
Our squad zoom sessions have been full of strength and conditioning, keeping our bodies in shape for when we are back. Keeping up with our flexibility has also been very important in our zoom sessions as this will help us in the future when we can leap around the gym again. A lot of fun and games have been introduced to our squad groups to keep up the motivation and make conditioning a bit more fun – this is possible!!
During these lockdowns we have missed out on many birthday celebrations in the gym. So, we have had to make sure we celebrate these over zooms! We all love a zoom birthday! We have had many birthdays on zoom, which only means one thing – singing together! This is always one that makes us laugh as everyone ends up singing at different times.

Every single gymnast that has joined us on zoom has been an absolute star, working so hard and showing their commitment to their sport. We can’t wait to be back in the gym and see all of you working hard in real life and not just over a screen! Keep it up everyone, your hard work will pay off.
